Skye Gruen

Associate Director, Buildings

Skye Gruen is Associate Director of the Buildings Program at ACEEE, where she leads work to advance energy-efficient building construction and improve the policies, practices, and programs that shape how buildings are designed, built, and operated. Her work includes developing and advancing building energy codes and standards, helping states and local governments improve code implementation and construction practices, and leading research and technical assistance on issues including net-zero residential construction, heat resilience, grid-interactive buildings, building performance standards, and other emerging issues affecting residential and commercial buildings.

Prior to joining ACEEE in 2023, Skye was vice president of new construction and on-site generation at Bright Power, where she worked to design, implement, and commission solar, resilience, and energy efficiency projects in new and existing buildings.

Skye earned a master of science in mechanical engineering from the University of Washington and a bachelor of science in chemical engineering from Yale University.
