Energy-Efficient Economies Around the World: Taking Stock

January 28, 2026 | 11:00am - 12:00pm EST

For decades, energy efficiency has been a low-cost resource for lowering businesses’ operating costs, cutting climate pollution, and helping citizens afford their utility bills. ACEEE’s International Energy Efficiency Scorecard documents policies and actions that the top 25 energy-consuming countries have taken to improve energy efficiency. The 2025 edition found that all countries can benefit economically from reducing their energy consumption in buildings, industry, and transportation.

Join us on Wednesday, January 28 from 11 am to 12 pm ET for a livestreamed congressional briefing to learn what different countries are doing to reap the benefits of energy efficiency. We will discuss results from ACEEE’s scorecard, global energy efficiency trends, and recommendations for improving economic activity through energy efficiency.

Speakers Include:

  • Jennifer Layke, executive director, ACEEE
  • Jasmine Mah, ACEEE, lead author of the International Energy Efficiency Scorecard
  • Steven Nadel, senior fellow, ACEEE
  • Carine Sebi of Grenoble Ecole de Management on France’s energy efficiency efforts
  • Jeff Rissman of Energy Innovation on global industrial energy efficiency
  • Tim Dallmann of the International Council on Clean Transportation on transportation energy efficiency
