Several studies have demonstrated that whole-building energy efficiency multifamily retrofits can lead to substantial energy and cost savings. However, less is understood about the specific end use savings opportunities that exist within residents’ units. This brief identifies the apartment and condominium energy end uses with the greatest energy savings potential. We explore how savings opportunities vary by region and which end uses are contributing to high energy burdens experienced by low-income, non-white, and Hispanic multifamily households.
