ACEEE and the BlueGreen Alliance worked with a coalition of 17 companies and organizations spanning the industry, labor, and non-profit sectors to send this letter to Congress in support of including significant additional spending for industrial decarbonization in the pending budget reconciliation resolution. The letter notes that the bipartisan infrastructure bill includes provisions on industrial emissions reductions, but that significantly more is needed to achieve climate change goals.
Deeply cutting emissions in this sector will require a multi-faceted approach that includes energy management; innovative lower-carbon processes; switching to low- or no-carbon energy sources; a reduction in demand for carbon-intensive products; and carbon capture. The letter identifies seven provisions already under consideration by congressional committees that the signatories encourage be included in the reconciliation package.
