Salary: $11,427.00 – $14,298.00 per month plus state pension plan.
Do you have technical engineering expertise with an enforcement mindset? Can you read building plans and communicate with a variety of stakeholders? California Energy Commission (CEC) is hiring a Lead Building Enforcement Specialist in our Office of Compliance Assistance and Enforcement (OCAE), an office in the Executive Division.
This Senior Electrical Engineer state classification is an opportunity to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in existing buildings through decarbonization and energy efficiency through programs, policies, standards, and analysis. OCAE is responsible for enforcing California’s appliance efficiency, building energy, and building benchmarking requirements.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Knowledge of: Title 20 and 24 energy efficiency regulations, enforcement methodologies, market actors and ecosystem related to building standards and appliances, legal/case management basics.
- Ability to: Read and analyze building permits, plans, and associated paperwork. Question everything and pay attention to details. Think on your feet. Communicate clearly, concisely, and firmly. Negotiate. Collaborate and bring disparate groups together. Be comfortable with being uncomfortable.
- Analyze information, make solid recommendations, and write about it.
- Ability to interact with high-level executives and attorneys.
