Salary: $8,983 – $11,115 per month plus state pension plan.

Do you have knowledge of electric system reliability and petroleum system emergency planning? If so, California Energy Commission (CEC) is hiring an Energy Emergency Specialist within the Reliability Analysis Branch of the Energy Assessments Division (EAD). 

The Energy Emergency Specialist will complete analytical work on the topics relating to energy resource planning, emergency planning and response for California’s energy systems to support electric and natural gas reliability, and petroleum products availability during emergency situations. 

Our Reliability Analysis Branch has primary responsibility for assessing California’s electricity supply and system, electricity reliability, identifying trends for planning and decision making, energy emergency planning and response, as well as identifying and analyzing decarbonization strategies as California transitions toward a clean energy future.

 

Energy Assessments Division (EAD) assesses California’s electricity, natural gas, petroleum, and transportation systems and trends to provide information to the state’s decision makers and the public. These assessments inform the development, and implementation, of energy policies that balance the need for adequate resources with economic, public health, safety, and environmental goals. 


** Telework option is available, but hired candidate must reside in California before starting.


Desirable Qualifications:

  • Experience working in the electricity, natural gas, and/or petroleum sectors.
  • Working knowledge of emergency planning, response, and coordination.
  • Strong technical writing skills.
  • Experience collaborating with federal and state agencies on energy topics.
  • Strong project management skills.
