Reviews the current status of China’s lighting industry, which is expanding rapidly as China’s electricity use grows at approximately 10% per year and energy used for lighting grows even faster. It examines overall statistics on the industry as well as the current status of lighting technologies for each of the major types of lighting equipment. Current and potential future programs to promote lighting efficiency in China are discussed.
