Clean Grid Alliance (CGA) is a nonprofit organization whose 60+ members include wind, solar and energy storage developers and manufacturers, non-profit environmental, public interest, and clean energy advocacy organizations, farmer organizations, and other businesses that support renewable energy.

Clean Grid Alliance is seeking a Senior Counsel/Director, Regulatory Advocacy to be part of a dynamic, growing staff and play a key role in creating and achieving a clean energy transition in the Midcontinent. The ideal candidate is a strategic leader who will work diligently to advance the transition to a clean energy economy through intervention and participation in state regulatory commission proceedings across the CGA footprint.

Qualifications:

  • Law degree and 10+ years’ experience with state regulatory and legal work, track record of success.
  • Ability to set an aggressive but doable agenda and implement it, work effectively on deadline, juggle multiple tasks and priorities at once, perform well in a fast-paced environment, and effectively apply good judgment skills.
  • Experience engaging, influencing, and working collaboratively with a variety of stakeholders across different interests, reconciling challenging and diverse viewpoints among non-profit organizations, for-profit renewable energy companies, CGA members, and other organizations with whom CGA is working.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team or by yourself, to perceive when to build consensus and when to lead.
  • Experience conducting rigorous information gathering and compiling findings into easily digested and compelling formats.

The preferred location for the position is in the Midcontinent Independent System Operator (MISO) region. CGA currently has a hybrid work environment and does host quarterly (March, June, September, December) member meetings in Minneapolis/St. Paul which staff attend in person.

Salary: $160,000 - $175,000, depending on experience and the candidate’s qualifications.
