US Light Bulb Standards Save Billions for Consumers But Manufacturers Seek a Rollback

National light bulb efficiency standards are savings consumers billions of dollars annually and preventing millions of tons of carbon dioxide and other pollutants. Savings will dramatically increase after 2020 when stronger standards that apply to a wider range of bulbs kick in. But manufacturers are seeking an illegal rollback of the 2020 standards; the Trump administration will soon announce its plans. This Issue Brief estimates the savings from US light bulb standards and how much would be lost if a rollback attempt succeeds.
