ACEEE filed comments in response to an EPA notice of proposed rulemaking, “Multi-Pollutant Emissions Standards for Model Years 2027 and Later Light-Duty and Medium-Duty Vehicles” (88 FR 29184). Reducing emissions from the light- and medium-duty vehicle sector is critical to tackling climate change in addition to improving air quality and reducing fueling costs for drivers. ACEEE commends EPA for proposing strong standards but recommends that the agency set standards that drive EV adoption above what the market would deliver while simultaneously incentivizing improvements in internal combustion engine vehicles.
