Eric Masanet is the Mellichamp Chair of Sustainability Science for Emerging Technologies at the University of California, Santa Barbara. His research focuses on technology and policy pathways for sustainable manufacturing and information technology systems, with over 180 publications on these topics to date. He has served as a Senior Industrial Advisor at the U.S. Department of Energy, as Head of the Energy Demand Technology Unit at the International Energy Agency in Paris, as a Consultant in the U.S. White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, as a two-time lead author for the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), and as a two-time author of the U.S. National Climate Assessment. He is the former Editor-in-Chief of Resources, Conservation, and Recycling, the leading scientific journal on sustainable resource utilization. He holds a Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from the University of California, Berkeley, with a specialization in sustainable manufacturing.
