Trade Ally Outreach Coordinator

TRC is seeking a Trade Ally Outreach Coordinator to join our team located in Oregon. We are looking for an outgoing candidate with experience discussing, installing, or selling electric and natural gas energy systems (HVAC, boilers, foodservice equipment, insulation, etc.) to support a commercial energy efficiency-focused program throughout the state of Oregon and SW Washington. The ideal candidate will use their knowledge of commercial energy systems to build and maintain relationships with trade allies – manufacturers, distributors, and installers – of energy systems throughout Oregon and SW Washington. The position will work in a small team of trade ally outreach staff focused on encouraging market actors to adopt energy efficient technologies, use those technologies correctly, and participate in client-sponsored incentive programs. The person in this role will prioritize engagement with minority- and women-owned firms, as well as emerging firms with limited experience working with efficiency programs.

Key Responsibilities

The position entails the following responsibilities:

  • Ability to effectively communicate commercial gas energy efficiency-focused program offerings and help contractors navigate the project application process
  • Provide day-to-day outreach to contractors and customers (Regional travel – estimated at 30% of the time, pending COVID-19 health regulations – to connect with installation contractors, manufacturers, distributors, and trade associations throughout Oregon and SW Washington. The position will require the use of a personal vehicle. Mileage and travel costs will be reimbursed.)
  • Create protocols to help trade allies and customers adhere to energy efficiency program requirements and teach those groups to effectively use the protocols
  • Provide contractor recruitment, engagement plans, mentoring, and training with a focus on minority- and women-owned firms, as well as emerging firms with limited experience working with efficiency programs
  • Assist in planning and hosting contractor forums with multiple sessions on an annual basis to deliver efficiency program updates
  • Actively engage appropriate trade groups and associations in events and program promotions

Skills and Experience:

We are looking for a person with a wide range of skills including the ability to build and maintain lasting industry relationships and who has an appetite to learn about energy savings technologies. The skills and experience below are preferred but not required:

  • Associates/BS/BA degree is preferred, but not required
  • 2+ years proven experience in working in the sales, account management and/or with utilities or energy contracting firms
  • Technical and working knowledge in commercial gas systems, utility systems, energy efficiency programs, and/or building systems
  • Knowledge or familiarity of energy efficiency measures, sustainable building practices, and technologies and experience with utility programs
  • A self-starter who can multi-task with superior organization, communications and interpersonal skills required
  • Being comfortable working both independently and collaboratively in a dynamic and engaging environment
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience conversing with commercial HVAC contractors
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word and the ability to learn and operate customer relationships management (CRM) systems
  • Previous experience conducting and/or supporting webinars or in-person trainings with a focus on energy savings technologies, preferred but not required
  • ​Knowledge of local laws and relevant building and energy codes, preferred but not required
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish, preferred but not required

 

Salary and Benefits:
