Third Way’s Climate and Energy Program (CEP) is looking for a Research and Content Advisor with an advanced understanding of federal climate and clean energy policy, and with a particular understanding of the politics and public opinion on clean energy and climate change, as well as the framing and context for climate and clean energy policy. This candidate should have a demonstrated ability to write clearly on complex topics for an audience of non-experts. It is also critical that this candidate have comfort with conducting a quantitative and qualitative analysis of public opinion surveys, including original interpretation and presentation of climate and clean energy data and, a graduate degree or an undergraduate degree in a relevant field plus exceptionally relevant work experience.
Third Way’s Climate and Energy Program is a dynamic team focused on federal climate and clean energy policies and technologies that get the US on the fastest, fairest path to net-zero by mid-century. This includes but is not limited to: a federal clean electricity standard, existing and advanced nuclear, carbon management or CCUS, electric vehicles, and other zero-emission transportation.
As the Research and Content Advisor, a typical day might include…
- Managing in-depth, original-source research, qualitative, and quantitative analysis, in coordination with the Third Way Politics team and outside consultants, to better understand and explain the importance and political, economic, and policy impact of federal action on climate change;
- Analyzing external public opinion research and, in coordination with colleagues from the Climate and Politics teams, and external consultants, draft public opinion research surveys for Third Way Climate Program;
- Drafting original high-impact content that conveys the Climate Program’s messaging and political perspective on the national climate and cleans energy debate, and editing original reports, memos, and op-eds by Climate Program colleagues to ensure they fully incorporate our messaging to make the case for our climate and clean energy agenda; and,
- Working with other members of Third Way’s climate and energy, communications, and outreach teams to provide content, digital and administrative support for public and virtual events.
**Please note all duties and events will be completed virtually until Third Way reopens its office which is scheduled for Tuesday, September 7, 2021, at which point this position will be located in Washington, D.C.
