Energy Efficiency as a Resource
Over two decades of experience with utility-sector energy efficiency programs has clearly demonstrated that such programs can provide significant amounts of energy and demand savings that constitute a valuable resource within utility energy resource portfolios. ACEEE’s Utilities Program researches key issues associated with successfully incorporating energy efficiency as a resource for both electricity and natural gas utility systems. The program also established the now-biennial National Conference on Energy Efficiency as a Resource, first held in 2001. This conference is the only such national industry event with this focus and it provides a unique opportunity for utilities, regulators, program administrators and allied energy professionals to share experiences and advance the role of energy efficiency as a cost-effective and environmentally beneficial utility system resource
