This is the fifth in a series of technical briefs exploring emerging opportunities for energy efficiency in residential and commercial buildings. This brief focuses on efficiency programs that promote both electricity and natural gas savings in US homes. It highlights technologies that can unlock deep energy savings across both fuels as well as best practices for cross-utility collaboration. The brief concludes by focusing on two new approaches—multifamily and pay-for-performance--that show particular promise for dual-fuel programming.
