| Support --> 25th Anniversary Campaign |
In 1980, leading research and technology experts came together
to create a national voice for energy efficiency, forming the American
Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy. In the quarter century
since, we have helped make America more energy efficient in many
ways, including
- Creating
energy efficiency standards for air conditioners, refrigerators,
and dozens of other products. These standards have already saved
American consumers over $50 billion, and will save over $250 billion
through 2030.
- Developing
state-based energy efficiency programs that spend over $1 billion
each year, cutting electricity demand by over 2% nationwide.
- Helping
American industry become more efficient and more competitive.
- Enabling
consumers to save energy in their homes through the Consumer
Guide to Home Energy Savings and on the road through ACEEE's
Green Book: The Environmental Guide to Cars and Trucks.
Despite these achievements, our work is far from over. Rising
energy costs, our out-of-control dependence on foreign oil, the
environmental damage of energy supply development practices, and
the emerging threat of global warming create a new urgency to produce
the next generation of energy efficiency improvements.
The ACEEE 25 Campaign will build a new financial foundation
for ACEEE's work. You can join the campaign in several ways:
