Estimates a range of potential fuel economy levels for a representative set of vehicles including cars, minivans, and SUVs, and projects implications for nationwide fuel consumption and greenhouse gas emissions. Engineering simulation analysis is applied to vehicle redesign packages ranging from a conservative evolution of conventional technologies to expanding use of advanced technologies including lightweight materials and hybrid drive.
