Incorporating New Codes and Efficiency Standards in Utility Forecasts

Steven Nadel

1994

Abstract

Most utility forecasts assume that present building codes and equipment efficiency standards will not change. However, federal and state laws ensure that codes and standards will become more stringent. This paper provides predictions about future codes and standards for particular products and case studies showing how these predictions lead to a 5-10% reduction in forecasted electricity requirements by 2010.
