WASHINGTON,
D.C. -- At a luncheon ceremony at the U.S. Combined Heat and
Power Association's (USCHPA) Fourth Annual Conference, ACEEE's Senior
Associate and Industry Program Director Neal Elliott was awarded
the Champion of Combined Heat and Power (CHP) award.
The Champion of Combined Heat and Power awards honor the work of leaders in the field of CHP technology, promotion, or policymaking. Dr. Elliott received the 2003 award to honor his efforts in encouraging appropriate tax treatment for CHP and promoting fair policies on the state and national level, and his overall support of and commitment to CHP.
As a founding member of USCHPA and long-time technology and policy researcher, Dr. Elliott has an extensive track record of researching and advocating for CHP technology. Throughout his ten years with ACEEE, Dr. Elliott has helped to create and maintain a network of CHP technology analysts and policy advocates. He also has authored over twenty papers regarding different aspects of the technology practice.
USCHPA Executive Director John Jimison praised Dr. Elliott's contribution and dedication, stating, "Neal Elliott offers a rare combination of attributes that have made him invaluable among CHP advocates: a sophisticated scientific understanding of the physics, engineering, and environmental benefits of CHP; the political savvy and people-skills of a professional lobbyist; and a passionate commitment to achieving the public good. It is strong evidence of the merits of pro-CHP policy that a man of his talents, training, and credibility elects to use them on behalf of CHP."
Other 2003
Champion of Combined Heat and Power recipients included: Senators
Tom Carper (D-DE) and Susan Collins (R-ME); Congressmen Rick Boucher
(D-VA) and Sherwood Boehlert (R-NY); Ted Bronson of Power Equipment
Associates, Ltd.; and Suzanne Watson of the Northeast Midwest Institute.
