Water and Wastewater
The
Water and Wastewater Sectors offer an opportunity for cost, energy
and water efficiency.
Building a
bridge between the energy efficiency and water and wastewater communities
will spark innovations, research and development, leading to increased
energy efficiency and decreased treatment costs and infrastrucucture
and capacity building expenditures.

Water and Wastewater Energy Road Map
In
Late July 2004, ACEEE, through funding from the California Energy
Commission, the Iowa Energy Center, NYSERDA, and the Water Environment
Research Foundation (WERF), organized a road map workshop to
bring together
the energy efficiency and water and waste water communities to define
avenues for increasing energy efficiency and strengthening the bottom
line in the water and wastewater sectors, while maintaining or improving
operational performance. Invited participants include water and
wastewater utility managers, electric utility managers, energy efficiency
program designers and implementers, procurement officers, and local,
state and federal policymakers. The final product of this road map
meeting will be sector goals for energy and cost savings as well
as a list of potential partnerships and projects for acheiving those
goals. We are working hard to ensure that this road map will lay
the groundwork for future work in the research and development,
program design and deployment, and regulation and policymaking for
energy efficiency in the water and wastewater sectors. We hope to
produce the final document within 3 months of the road map workshop.
When we do, it will be posted here. Until then, please feel free
to look through the documents distributed at the workshop:
