Manufacturing
The Industry Program has been working on issues related to energy efficiency in manufacturing since its creation in 1993. We conduct research and technical analysis of energy savings potential and work to promote and advance more efficient technologies and processes utilized in all areas of manufacturing. Increased efficiency in this sector means lower energy bills for the manufacturers themselves, economic growth for the U.S. as a whole, and reduced pollution including carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases.
Activities
- Technology
We work to advance the development and expansion of known energy-efficient technologies as well as to identify promising emerging technologies.
- Programs and Policy
ACEEE is internationally recognized as an authority on the design and evaluation of manufacturing energy efficiency programs. We've been involved in the creation and development of programs at the utility, state, and national level. Such programs include two national collaborative initiatives promoting motor system efficiency improvements—Compressed Air Challenge and Motor Decisions Matter. We were also involved in the creation and development of Pump Systems Matter, another collaborative initiative dedicated to assisting pump system users. ACEEE was a founding member of the U.S. Combined Heat and Power Association.

- Additional Analysis
In addition to sector specific analysis, the Industry and Agriculture Program contributes to broader national, regional, and state level analysis of industrial energy use and the potential
for savings. Most of these analyses are part
of multi-sector studies undertaken with other program areas or with
external experts. Information on these studies are available
on our Energy Efficiency Potential
Assessments page.
ACEEE Reports
ACEEE completes extensive and unbiased analysis of technologies
