Building Codes

Wisconsin State Energy Codes

Summary:

Both Wisconsin's residential and commercial building energy codes are mandatory statewide. The state-developed residential code, referred to as COMM 22 of the Uniform Dwelling Code (UDC), is mandatory for one- and two-family dwellings and incorporates the 2006 IECC with state amendments. Multifamily dwellings must comply with the 2000 IECC. Commercial buildings must comply with the 2006 IECC with state amendments.
