Building Codes

Washington State Energy Codes

Summary:

Washington's state-developed codes are mandatory statewide for both residential and commercial buildings. The residential code exceeds the 2006 IECC standards for most homes, and the commercial code meets or exceeds ASHRAE 90.1-2004. For residential construction covered by 90.1-2007 (high rise buildings with four or more stories), the state code is more stringent.
