Tailpipe Emissions Standards (Low-Emission Vehicle Program)

Summary: Oregon adopted California’s Low-Emission Vehicle Program in 2006, committing to a 30% reduction in average new vehicle greenhouse gas emissions from 2002 levels by 2016.

State Tax Incentives for High Efficiency and Alternative-Fuel Vehicles

Summary: Oregon provides both residents and business-owners tax credits for the purchase of alternative-fuel vehicles (AFVs) and hybrid-electric vehicles (HEVs). Residents can claim up to $1,500 in credits while business owners can earn back up to 35% of the incremental cost of the purchased HEV. Vehicles that have been converted to run on alternative fuels are eligible for a credit of up to $750.
