Statute § 10-722, Income Tax Credit for Green Buildings, Personal and Corporate.  Statute § 9-242, Property Tax Exemption for High Performance Buildings

Summary: Introduced in 2001, Maryland Statue § 10-722, the Income Tax Credit for Green Buildings, allows for an income tax credit for nonresidential and residential multifamily buildings of at least 20,000 square feet that are constructed or rehabilitated to meet criteria set forth by the U.S. Green Building Council or other similar criteria.

Maryland Statute § 9-242, the Property Tax Exemption for High Performance Buildings, allows for an optional property tax credit for high performance buildings that achieve at least a silver rating according to the U.S. Green Building Council's LEED standards, or which meet other comparable green building guidelines or standards approved by the State.
