Building Codes

Maryland State Energy Codes

Summary:

Both the residential and commercial building codes employ the 2006 IECC and are mandatory statewide. § 12-503 of the Maryland Code requires the Department of Housing and Community Development to adopt the most recent version of the IECC twelve (12) months after it is issued and may adopt energy conservation requirements that are more stringent than the codes, but may not adopt energy conservation requirements that are less stringent.
