Building Codes

Iowa State Energy Codes

Summary:

The Iowa residential building code is based on the 2006 IECC and is mandatory state-wide. Commercial buildings must also meet the 2006 IECC, with reference to ASHRAE 90.1 – 2004.

Note: Iowa Code Chapter 103A allows jurisdictions to adopt other building codes or to use no code. However, energy conservation requirements apply to all buildings state-wide.
