Building Codes

Chapter 13 of the Florida Building Code

Summary:

Florida has a state-developed mandatory code, Chapter 13 of the Florida Building Code, which directs residential construction to meet/exceed the 2006 IECC and commercial construction to meet/exceed ASHRAE 90.1 – 2004. In 2008, Governor Charlie Crist signed HB 697, which requires the Florida Building Commission to select the most current version of the IECC as a foundation code, but must modify it to maintain the thermal efficiencies of the Florida Energy Efficiency Code for Building Construction adopted and amended pursuant to § 553.901.
