New and Existing Building Requirements

Summary: Executive Order 82 (February 2006) requires the state to develop strategies for implementing energy saving and conservation techniques for state agencies, including the use of performance contracting and demand-side management. Released in 2003, the Delaware Energy Task Force's Final Report to the governor included a recommendation to implement energy efficiencyin state government and reduce energy consumption 10% by 2010 from 2000 levels.

Summary: Statute (House Bill 435), signed in August 2004, requires state agencies to purchase ENERGY STAR qualified products if they are available competitively.

Note: For state efficient fleet initiatives, policies listed must make a specific, mandatory requirement for increasing state fleet efficiency. State alternative-fuel vehicle procurement requirements that give a voluntary option to count efficient vehicles are thus not included.
