Building Codes

Delaware State Energy Codes

Summary:

Delaware has mandatory statewide codes for both residential (2000 IECC) and commercial construction (2000 IECC and 2001 supplement, referencing ASHRAE 90.1 – 1999).

On July 29, 2009, Governor Jack Markell signed SB 79, which mandated the adoption and enforcement of the 2009 IECC and ASHRAE 90.1-2007. Subsequent versions of the two model codes must be reviewed for updates every three years. The codes become effective July 1, 2010.
