Appliance and Equipment Standards

Arizona Revised Statutes, Title 44 (Trade and Commerce), Section 1375

Summary:

In 2005, Governor Janet Napolitano signed A.R.S. 44-1375 creating Arizona’s Appliance and Equipment Efficiency Standards, which implemented minimum energy efficiency standards for twelve products.  Ten of the twelve state standards became effective January 1st, 2008, the other two will become effective in 2010.  Four of the twelve are not currently covered by federal standards introduced by the Energy Policy Act of 2005 (EPAct). However, three of the four standards not yet covered by federal standards will be preempted by January 1st, 2009, through standards introduced in EPAct 2005 as well as the Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007.

HB 2332, signed by Governor Napolitano on July 13, 2009, established new standards for three additional products, effective January 1, 2012.
