Summary

There is very little utility customer energy efficiency program activity in Alaska. Only one utility reported any spending on such programs in 2007. Otherwise, the only program activity is through the state's energy office, not the utilities. According to the Energy Information Administration, Alaska utilities spent $298,000 on energy efficiency in 2007, saving 1,419 MWh.

Customer Energy Efficiency Programs

There are few programs available to energy utility customers. Only one utility, Golden Valley Electric Association, Inc. (GVEA), reported any spending on such programs in 2007. GVEA implements business, residential, and consumer energy savings programs. According to the Energy Information Administration, these programs saved 1,419 MWh in 2007, 0.03% of combined utility retail sales in Alaska.
