Summary

Alabama energy efficiency programs, while still minor relative to other states, increased in 2007 over 2006.  According to the Energy Information Administration, Alabama utilities spent $2.3 million on energy efficiency in 2007, saving 7,681 MWh.


Customer Energy Efficiency Programs

The state's only regulated investor-owned utility, Alabama Power, reported 2,844 MWh of savings to the EIA.  Overall, according to the Energy Information Administration, Alabama utilities reported efficiency program savings of 7,681 MWh in 2007.

There are no natural gas efficiency programs in Alabama.

Program Funding

According to the Energy Information Administration, Alabama utilities spent $2.3 million on energy efficiency in 2007. This total is comprised entirely of spending by two cooperatives, Alabama Electric Coop, Inc. and Singing River Electric Power Association.
