About the Conference (Original Announcement):

ACEEE and CEE are pleased to announce the eleventh annual National Symposium on Market Transformation. For the past decade, the Symposium has brought together policy makers, program planners, implementers and evaluators, as well as manufacturers and trade allies to discuss the latest progress in the field of market transformation. Since the inaugural workshop in 1997, we've witnessed considerable growth and change within the field of market transformation in response to shifts in the economic, political, and regulatory climate for energy efficiency programs and services. The Symposium seeks to address opportunities and challenges within the field with a stimulating program covering the latest hot topics, updates on current program approaches, new strategies for program design, integration of multiple program objectives, and evaluation methodologies.

The 2007 National Symposium on Market Transformation will explore the theme of "Accelerating the Pace: Deepening and Broadening Efficiency Efforts." Sessions will dig in to innovative program planning and marketing strategies to expand the reach of market transformation both geographically and into new product areas. We will look at the latest program developments as well as regional and international trends, opportunities for strategic partnerships, and how to leverage public opinion to embrace efficiency in order to transform markets. Sessions include:

  • An opening plenary to highlight some of the global challenges we face and explore how we can succeed in expanding and accelerating our work. The session will feature prominent speakers who will discuss how the field of market transformation is evolving and how to develop a next generation of programs that will help meet national and global needs.

  • Large breakout sessions covering the latest activities by region; an international snapshot of market transformation efforts; recent changes in key policy mechanisms; emerging trends such as lifestyle choices and climate action agreements; social marketing techniques; and the next big ideas in emerging technologies and practices.

  • Finally, smaller working sessions allowing participants to discuss a number of important and timely topics. Topics covered will include residential programs, commercial programs, evaluation and market research issues, new directions, and program strategies.

Check back periodically for updated schedule and program information.
