2008 ACEEE Summer Study on Energy Efficiency in Industry

Informal Sessions Description

Additional Informal Sessions may be organized on-site during the Summer Study.

New Frontiers in Building Energy Codes – Part 2

Harry Misuriello

Tuesday, August 19
2:00 PM - 4:00 PM

This session is intended for energy efficiency advocates and activists who are interested in developing, adopting and enforcing more stringent building energy codes for new construction (this includes some initiatives begun at the 2006 Summer Study.) We will review current “30% Solution” campaign efforts to achieve a significant efficiency increase in the 2009 International Energy Conservation Code (IECC) and ASHRAE’s efforts to improve Standard 90.1 by 30% by 2010. The focus of the session will be to discuss building energy code advocacy goals for the next few years and how to put the organizational and financial resources in place at the national, state and local levels to achieve them. The discussion will also include approaches to addressing upcoming state energy code adoption processes in 2009-2011 and technical goals for future energy code development cycles.
