2008 ACEEE Summer Study on Energy Efficiency in Industry

Informal Sessions Description

Additional Informal Sessions may be organized on-site during the Summer Study.

Expanded Test Protocols for Low Ambient Testing of Unitary AC Systems

Keith A. Temple

Monday, August 18
4:00 PM - 6:00 PM

The results will be presented for a research project to develop Expanded Test Protocols for Low Ambient Testing of Unitary AC Systems. The research project was funded by the CEC and is relevant to system testing associated with Title 24 compliance and Utility sponsored tune-up programs. Expanded test protocols are proposed for testing at low outdoor air temperatures and low indoor wet-bulb temperatures. The expanded test protocols offer an opportunity to increase utility program activity because testing could be accomplished under cooler conditions when tune-up activities are not competing as much with emergency service calls. The session will provide an opportunity for industry input and discussion of the research results.
