2008 ACEEE Summer Study on Energy Efficiency in Industry

Informal Sessions Description

Additional Informal Sessions may be organized on-site during the Summer Study.

Think Small - Scalable Efficiency Programs to Serve Utilities' Less Than 100 kW Customers

Tim Kensok

Monday, August 18
4:00 PM - 6:00 PM

Buildings less than 100,000 square feet comprise 98% of all commercial buildings in the US, and consume nearly 60% of the energy used in buildings. It will be difficult to reach energy conservation targets unless scaleable methods of identifying and implementing energy conservation measures in this small and medium sized building segment can be developed. This session will explore current utility programs in place targeting the small building segment, identify gaps between the current and desired state of programs, and generate ideas for new programs that could cost-effectively address this large opportunity for conservation.
