The 2007 ACEEE Summer Study in Industry

July 24–27, 2007 • Renaissance Westchester Hotel • White Plains, New York

The 2007 ACEEE Summer Study was the 8th biennial ACEEE conference on Energy Efficiency in Industry. Participants from around the world gathered for three days to discuss technical, policy, and program issues related to increasing energy efficiency in industry. Presentations and discussions related to the theme, Improving Industrial Competitiveness: Adapting to Volatile Energy Markets, Globalization, and Environmental Constraints. Attendees included energy decision makers from industry, equipment manufacturers, government policymakers, electric utility staff, energy consultants, leading industrial energy researchers, and academics.

The cost of energy is an increasingly large component of U.S. manufacturing cost. Factoring in energy conservation and substitution strategies and the need to operate manufacturing plants as sustainable enterprises, it becomes clear that both industry and energy markets must adapt to assure a sound U.S. economy. The 2007 ACEEE Summer Study on Energy Efficiency in Industry offered opportunities to learn about a wide variety of cutting-edge energy strategies, technologies, measures, programs, and policies that cut energy costs, improve energy reliability, reduce energy price volatility, and enhance industrial productivity. People came to Summer Study to learn from and network with energy experts from private industry, academia, government, consulting, and the nonprofit sector.
