Session Synopsis - "Residential ENERGY STAR™ HVAC Specifications for 2006"

Steven Ryan, EPA
Buck Taylor, The Cadmus Group

Thursday, August 26
2:00 PM - 4:00 PM

In January of 2006 the new federal minimum efficiency standard for residential HVAC equipment will increase to 13 SEER. The Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) current ENERGY STAR HVAC standard will become obsolete at this time. The EPA is working with stakeholders to determine future programming direction. Options include discontinuing the HVAC initiative, increasing the equipment efficiency specifications, adopting performance-based installation standards or combining both new equipment efficiency standards and installation standards to differentiate the new ENERGY STAR HVAC program. If you are a stakeholder in the HVAC industry, your participation in this process is essential to future program success.
