Synopsis - "1.35 kW and 1400 kWh for $300!
A Savings Opportunity for Efficient ACEEE Participant Swimmers"
Gary Fernstrom, PG&E
Thursday, August 26
2:00 PM - 4:00 PM
The saturation of residential private swimming pools is high in many parts of the country (8 to 10% in California, with over 1.2 million pools). Typical pool filtration pumping is 1.5 HP, 6 to 10 hours per day. If operated simultaneously on-peak, pool filtration alone would demand 1,800 mW, or the output of 3 large power plants.
California Utilities are offering a low-cost pump & motor replacement program that can reduce demand by 75% and energy use by 55 to 60%. Representatives of PG&E will be demonstrating their "Pool Pump Trailer", which actively compares the energy-efficiency performance of 5 different pump-motor combinations. The savings are dramatic.
Seeing is believing! Come see the demonstration and join in a discussion of pool pump program opportunities.
