2004 ACEEE Summer Study on Energy Efficiency in Buildings

2004 ACEEE Informal Sessions Descriptions

Additional Informal Sessions may be organized on-site during the Summer Study. Visit the office in Surf and Sand to sign up for an Informal Session.

Session Synopsis - "What's Next on Standby?"

Shane Holt, Australian Greenhouse Office

Thursday, August 26
2:00 PM - 4:00 PM

Standby power is still around (and perhaps even growing). Learn how Australia, Korea, and other countries are developing new strategies to reduce standby power use. How do these policies connect to those to improve power supplies, set-top boxes, and appliance efficiency standards? Participate in a discussion: "Will standby power use be the death of the zero-energy home?" Snacks and beverages courtesy of Australian Social Services.
