2004 ACEEE Informal Sessions Descriptions

Additional Informal Sessions may be organized on-site during the Summer Study. Visit the office in Surf and Sand to sign up for an Informal Session.

Session Synopsis - "Comparing Commercial Building Energy Use Around the World"

Adam Hinge, Sustainable Energy Partnerships
Paul Waide, International Energy Agency

Monday, August 23
2:00 PM - 4:00 PM

Comparing commercial building energy use among different countries is a significant challenge, with wide climatic and construction type variations, and varying quality of the data on energy consumed, fuel conversion factors used, building/space types, and floor area for calculating energy intensity. Recent efforts have begun to assemble data available around the globe, and make some initial comparisons of these data. This session will seek additional sources of commercial building energy performance data, and discuss issues and questions for future research to allow better comparisons.
