Session Synopsis - "Energy Efficiency in Agriculture"

Elizabeth Brown, ACEEE

Monday, August 23
4:00 PM - 6:00 PM

Agriculture may be a large, relatively untapped resource for energy efficiency. Nationwide, the agricultural sector accounts for three percent of total electricity use. Total energy expenses on farms are 10 percent of the total farm expenses nationwide. In many regions, the agricultural sector is responsible for a higher percentage of the total state or regional energy use. In these regions, where agriculture is both economically and politically important, there is often support for agricultural energy efficiency programs. Over the last year, ACEEE has been working with partners to develop useful projects for increasing energy efficiency in this sector. Please join in a discussion about opportunities in the agricultural sector, talk about your current programs, and discuss the needs of the agricultural community in your region that can be filled by the efficiency community.
