Session
Synopsis - "Opportunities for Global Collaboration in Appliance
Standards and Labeling"
Stephen Wiel, CLASP/LBNL
Monday, August 23
4:00 PM - 6:00 PM
CLASP (the Collaborative Labeling and
Appliance Standards Program) is actively helping agencies in China and
India implement major programs to develop energy efficiency standards
and labels for appliances, equipment, and lighting products and helping
several other governments with similar but less ambitious programs.
It's helping UNDP/GEF create a series of regional projects to consider
alignment or harmonization of various aspects of standards-setting and
labeling, with heavy focus on testing protocols and otherwise
supporting regional activities with APEC, ASEAN, SARI and NAEWG. A
second edition of the CLASP Guidebook will be published early next year
and the launch of an improved website is imminent. CLASP was formed in
1999 and is in the process of incorporating as a non-profit global
partnership.
