2003 ACEEE Summer Study on Energy Efficiency in Industry

Informal Sessions Description

Additional Informal Sessions may be organized on-site during the Summer Study.

Session Synopsis - "Challenging the Modelers"

Ernst Worrell, Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory
Skip Laitner, US EPA

Wednesday, July 30
3:30 PM - 5:00 PM

There are expanding national discussions on a critical number of energy-related issues ranging from the importance of reducing air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions to enhancing the nation's energy security and moving towards a competitive electric utility industry. The complex interactions surrounding all of these issues have motivated the development of a relatively large number of energy-economic models to assist policy makers in the framing of appropriate policy directions. But how can modelers help inform the debate? This session, a continuation of a previous discussion, will encourage the development of a research agenda that can help advance the state of the art in policy modeling.
