NATIONAL
CONFERENCE ON ENERGY EFFICIENCY AS A RESOURCE
Berkeley
Lab looks forward to welcoming participants in ACEEE's June,
2003 national conference to a special evening of demonstrations,
laboratory tours and displays, along with hors d'oeuvres and
California wine, at our research campus in the hills above
UC Berkeley. This event will be held Monday evening, June
9th, following the conclusion of that day's conference activities.
At the
gathering, attendees will view technologies and tools developed
at the Lab's Environmental Energy Technologies Division where
energy efficiency R&D successes have saved the U.S. billions
of dollars. Visitors will have the option to visit our lighting
laboratories, where researchers will be on hand to explain
their work. Some of the following energy-efficient technologies
and programs will be represented:
~
Lighting Research. View a demonstration of new energy-efficient
kitchen and hotel lighting systems and learn about recent
research on solid state lighting, and on lighting controls.
~ Thermal
Distribution-duct tape results. Researchers will be on
hand to discuss results from the duct sealant longevity lab,
which tests the durability of such sealants as duct tape,
mastic, and other commercial sealing products.
~ Demand
response. Berkeley Lab is engaged in research to test
demand response strategies to reduce load. Researchers will
be available to discuss several New York and California r&d
activities and demonstration projects.
~ High-Performance
Commercial Buildings (HPCBS). Results from Berkeley Lab's
multi-year program with major funding from the California
Energy Commission will be presented. Researchers will present
an overview of the research, and discuss and display some
results from the HPCBS projects: Life-Cycle Tools; Lighting,
Envelope and Daylighting; Low Energy Cooling; Integrated Commissioning
and Diagnostics; and Indoor Environmental Quality. Various
controls systems and simulation tools will be demonstrated.
Shuttle
busses will pick up ACEEE conference participants at the Radisson
Hotel at 6:00pm and 6:30pm, returning at 7:30pm and 8pm to
the Radisson, with stop-off en route for those who are interested
in disembarking in downtown Berkeley.
