Session
Synopsis - "PIER Residential R&D Advances: Refrigerators, Hot
Water & Radiant Floor Systems"
Mark Berman, Davis Energy Group
Thursday, August 22
2:00 PM - 4:00 PM
Davis Energy Group is progressing on four R&D projects under its
Synergistic Water Heating Distribution and Technologies (SWHDT)
Program. This Program is funded by the California Energy Commission
through the PIER Program. This session will:
- Describe
progress toward the development of a Combined Refrigerator Electric
Water Heater. A design configuration has been selected and prototype
design is proceeding with assistance from Oak Ridge National Laboratories
and input from Maytag.
- Describe
testing of the Condensate Recovery System for heat pump water
heaters completed by TIAX (formerly Arthur D. Little).
- Present
results to date of a study by Oak Ridge National Laboratories
to compare the efficiencies of alternative residential hot water
distribution systems.
- Describe
progress on the development of a radiant floor tubing system that
can be rapidly deployed at low cost. The objective of this project
is to make radiant floor tubing systems affordable for production
housing. A design configuration has been selected, and Davis Energy
Group is working with ITEX, Inc. to develop a prototype.
