Session
Synopsis - "High Performance Schools - Developing a Nationally Recognized Web-Based
Resource Clearinghouse"
Dan Strout, U.S. DOE
Jim Rutherford, NEEP
Denise Rouleau, Consortium for Energy Efficiency
Monday, August 19
4:00 PM - 6:00 PM
This session will seek to initiate discussion on developing regionally
recognized information clearinghouses on high performance schools. In
turn, we will discuss how each of these independant regional sites might
act as a spoke to a nationally-recognized high performance schools
information hub.
Current Efforts
The High Performance Schools Exchange is a Northeast-based effort to create
a regionally recognized, single-point clearinghouse of regional and
national high performance school resources. Conceptually, this site will
serve as the information hub whose spokes are links to and from key sites
that seekers of information on school construction/renovation are likely to
visit. Such site links would include (but not be limited to) utilities,
state departments of education, state departments of energy, association of
school business officials, non-profit information providers, administrators
of public benefits funds, etc. It is envisioned that, to be successful,
such a resource site needs to be (1) easy to find via related web portals;
(2) easy to navigate and visually simple; and (3) comprehensive in its
breadth and depth of "back-office" information. This session will provide
the overview of this initiative, and seek to stimulate discussion on how
this effort might be applied at a national level.
