Session Synopsis - "International Co-ordinated Actions to Reduce Stand-by Losses and Beyond"

Paolo Bertoldi, European Commission

Thursday, August 22
2:00 PM - 4:00 PM

Stand-by power consumption is representing an increasing share of the residential and office energy consumption. While a number of separated policies actions are undertaken by individual countries and regions, there is the need to continue and re-enforce the international action launched by the International Energy Agency. Moreover the penetration of intelligent appliances and devices and the increased use of multimedia equipment, poses a new threat to energy demand management. Therefore it is also proposed to look at the on-mode consumption of power supplies and consumer electronic/multimedia devices.

The informal session is open to all stakeholders that have interest in residential/building energy consumption, in particular manufacturers are welcome to contribute to the debate.
