The American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy (ACEEE), a leading national nonprofit research organization based in Washington, D.C., seeks a Special Library Consultant.  ACEEE acts as a catalyst to advance energy efficiency policies, programs, technologies, investments, and behaviors.

Position Description:

ACEEE is looking for a self-motivated and detail-oriented individual to evaluate ACEEE's library content and recommend how to access the library collection through the management of an accurate and efficient organization and retrieval system. 

The successful candidate will possess a working knowledge of library science and best practices in creating a searchable library.  

Expectations and Deliverables:

  • collaborate with project manager and others to design a library media center and to identify all required elements, including informational and instructional technology that are applicable
  • work with project manager and staff in identifying, cataloging, locating, and interpreting information housed in the library media center, as well as identifying appropriate tools to retrieve data, both locally and from remote location
  • develop and implement, in collaboration with project manager and others, a collection development policy that provides access to current and future resources.
  • develop and implement, in collaboration with project manager and others, policies and procedures that provide instructions on maintenance as well as appropriate access to resources.
  • assist staff in identifying appropriate information resources and their usage in developing bibliographies and resource lists
